Issuing authority

After the 6th State Reform, the federal abnormal-load transport service was split into 3 regional services; the application is still submitted via WebTEUV as a single document for the whole territory of Belgium (Z2). The Brussels-Capital Region invoices the permits for all 3 regions (Z1). Contacts: Flanders — Lange Kievitstraat 111, 2018 Antwerpen, tel. +32 (0)2 553 78 47, [email protected] (telephone on working days 9:30–12:30); Brussels — Place Saint-Lazare 2, 1035 Bruxelles, [email protected]; invoices: [email protected]; Wallonia — [email protected]. [Z2]

Application channel

WebTEUV 2.0 (AWV application for the whole of Belgium); alternatively an application by registered letter on the forms [Z1]

Login / access: First, registration via a form (access confirmed by e-mail within 2 working days). Belgian companies: CSAM (access managers designated in CSAM grant access to employees; persons without a Belgian identity card need a BIS number). Foreign companies: login = e-mail + password + e-mail verification; the list of persons with access can only be changed via a form (the company does not manage it itself); access is strictly personal. A person handling several foreign companies needs a separate e-mail address for each of them. Natural persons currently do not get access to WebTEUV — the authority recommends that they use a mandataire.

Thresholds above which a permit is needed

Values for a typical combination: tractor unit with semi-trailer or rigid vehicle with trailer, 5 axles, standard width.

Width2.55 m [Z1]

Length, tractor unit + semi-trailer16.50 m [Z1]
Length, rigid vehicle + trailer18.75 m [Z1]
Gross combination weight (5 axles)44.00 t [Z1]
Single axle loadNot confirmed
Drive axle loadNot confirmed

A permit is required where a vehicle, because of its construction or an indivisible load, exceeds at least one of the following values: length of a single vehicle 12.00 m, tractor unit + semi-trailer 16.50 m, motor vehicle + trailer 18.75 m, width 2.55 m, height 4.00 m, weight 44 t for 5-axle combinations, rear overhang 3.00 m (Z1, Z2; basis: KB of 15.03.1968 — règlement technique, and the Code de la route). Axle load limits are not given on the official pages — they refer to the règlement technique (not read). Permit categories (Art. 4 AR 2.06.2010): category 1 — single vehicle ≤ 19.00 m, combination ≤ 27.00 m, width ≤ 3.50 m, height and weight within the standard limits; category 2 — single vehicle 19–22 m, combination 27–30 m, width 3.50–4.25 m, height ≤ 4.50 m, weight ≤ 90 t; category 3 — single vehicle 22–28 m, combination 30–35 m, width 4.25–5.00 m, height 4.50–4.80 m, weight 90–120 t; category 4 — above these.
